Assigning Wikipedia/Weathering Wikis
One of the things I'm going to be talking about on Friday at the conference/symposium on using wikis to teach are some of the different options for free wikis. Here's a few; I know there are others. Anyway, I need your help! I really would like to get some feedback from you folks that I can share with people on Friday-- not to mention with each other. So here's what I'd like folks to do: First, I'm going to assign each of you a wiki to play around with. The assignments are:
- April, Bernice, Michael: Wikia
- Sam, Daniel, David: ScribbleWiki
- Jennifer, Linda, Bridget: PBWiki
- Thomas, Pamela, Kevin: Wikispaces
"Extra credit"/brownie points? Play around with more than one wiki! What I would like each of you to do with your assigned wiki service is pretty straight-forward:
- Set up an account
- Try to set up a wiki
- See if you can figure out features/advantages/disadvantages/etc.
- Report back to all of us here in this space.
Wiki comparison discussion here! Just to clarify, too: I am not expecting folks to spend hours and hours doing this! All I'm looking for is some impressions on how it works and if you would recommend it to others. We can share all of this information with each other, and again, I'll share it with folks who come to my session on Friday of this week.
- Oh yeah-- contine to work on web site assignment.
